About the event

We all know we need to eat less meat - but why?

In 2018, a groundbreaking study titled by leading academics assessed the full impact of animal farming on both climate and environment. Its conclusion: avoiding meat and dairy products could make a huge contribution to restoring and regenerating the planet.

“A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact  on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification,  eutrophication, land use and water use,” said Joseph Poore, at the  University of Oxford, UK, who led the research. “It is far bigger than  cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car,” he said, as  these only cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Tonight, three environmental and animal rights activist make the case for a plant-based future. Michael Forton will speak about animal farming's multiple environmental and social impacts; Bel Jacobs will make the ethical case for a vegan future while Vaania Kapoor will outline the work of a new youth-focused campaign, Plantbased Universities.

The event is free but please register so that we know how many chairs to put out.
