About the event
ISLINGTON CLIMATE CENTRE and ANGEL CENTRAL are partnering with Fashion Revolution to mark the first Mend in Public Day - a global call-to-action to make loved clothes last.
Get ready for a day of free repair & upcycling stations, interactive workshops and panel discussions taking place across the piazza and Islington Climate Centre (next to Wagamamas). You’ll be joined and guided by Street Stitching, Colechi, Craftivist Collective and the University of East London with more partners to be announced shortly.
Mend in Public Day stands as a beacon of change in a world inundated with fashion waste. By participating, you’ll be part of a global creative action resisting the cycle of excess through repair and reuse.
We’ll bring the sewing supplies; you bring the repair pile and enthusiasm to mend your clothes and mend the system. All skill levels and Fashion Revolutionaries welcome!
In the outdoor piazza, you’ll find the…
- Embroidery station with Fashion Revolution and Tammam
- Upcycling station with Fashion Revolution
- Crochet station with Knit Nat London
- Upcycled friendship bracelets with the University of East London
- Mini fashion statements with Craftivist Collective
- You can Knit With Us club by Colechi
- Mend-in by Street Stitching
