About the event

Restore Nature Now, the biggest march for nature and biodiversity ever is coming up on Saturday June 22nd, bringing together all the UK’s climate and nature groups to demand that our government take action to protect and restore our natural environments.

Not only will the Islington Climate Centre be showing up, but we will be bringing a big, beautiful, upcycled banner and we want you, our wonderful community, to help us make it.

If you want to get involved, please join our dedicated WhatsApp group. Link will follow.

The vision

We want the banner to be big enough for us to carry it in a bloc at the march, with the words “Islington Climate Centre” in big letters, framed by 40x40cm patches.

We’ve already got the base fabric, and the letters stencils, but we need your help painting or patching the letters on, and making the patches that make up the frame. They should be 40x40 cm and can be printed, patchworked, embroidered or painted. The general theme of the banner is nature – to be interpreted however you like!

How to participate

1. You can either participate by joining our banner making workshops, or by sending in a 40x40cm square you’ve made at home (preferably from second hand materials). Either way, please be sure to join the WhatsApp Group.

2. You can drop into any banner making workshop on the following dates:

· May 15th, 5-8pm

· May 29th, 5-8pm

· June 5th, 5-8pm

· June 16th, 2-5pm

We’ll provide fabric paints, printing blocks sewing materials and a sewing machine. All you’ll need to bring is yourself and a piece of scrap fabric or clothing that is beyond repair.
