About the event

Explore methods to challenge fast fashion and climate  crisis.

Sign up here.

Fashion  is the second most-polluting industry in the world after oil and  produces more greenhouse emissions than international flights and  shipping combined. It is one of the largest consumers of freshwater on  the planet.

Women are targeted by, and vulnerable to, the fashion industry. We are also disproportionately affected by climate crisis.

Join  a:dress, a creative venture started in Folkestone by spoken word poet  Leah Thorn to raise awareness of fast-fashion pitfalls, in this fun, inclusive workshop to explore how we can increase our ability to  think clearly and act effectively to challenge fast fashion and climate  crisis.

This workshop will

- explore the impact of the overconsumption and overproduction of clothing

-  show a short film featuring women artists who use creativity to take on  the issues of fast fashion, sexism, racism and climate justice

- feature a ‘Subversive Catwalk’ of up-cycled, message-adorned clothes

- provide opportunities to listen to each other about what these issues mean for us personally
