About the event
Join supportive and friendly teacher Tessa as you learn how to create a colourful weave darn to add new life to your holey knitwear you wish you could wear more. The perfect class if you're on the hunt for some sustainable things to do in London.
Tickets from £13. PLEASE REGISTER HERE.
We all have a jumper with a hole in it, either from wear and tear at the elbows or from those pesky moths. No more sitting in a bag or on a shelf in the back of our wardrobe, its time to bring these knits out into the light and get mending
During this class you will get:
- An understanding of how knitwear is constructed.
- Different types of yarns, and needles for darning.
- How to create different shapes and patterns for your darned area.
Be fashionable and sustainable. Visible mending is a declaration of the care you have invested in your clothes, and changes plain knits into something unique and personal and most importantly, back to being worn again
By the end of this class, you will have all the skills you need to breathe new life into your knitwear at home, and possibly even an item you mended in the class.
Materials are provided to work on a sample that you can take home as reference for the darning process. Working on a sample will give you the freedom to experiment and make mistakes, which as we all know is the best way to learn!
20% of the ticket sales goes to support the volunteers at the Islington Climate Centre.
