About the event
Ever wondered what happens to your recycling? Come and find out on April 23rd at Islington Climate Centre, when Transition Highbury and the Climate Centre are teaming up to look at Waste and Recycling.
Check in for these great talks!
3.00pm: A third of all food grown is thrown away. Lindy Sharpe from Transition Highbury will be speaking on Food Waste, how to reduce it - and how to save money in the process!
4.00pm: Former fashion editor (and Islington Climate Centre co-founder) Bel Jacobs will give a short presentation on Fashion and Waste (it's worse than you think).
Stall holders include:
- Caz Royds, from Transition Highbury, will be looking at why it’s so difficult to recycle different kinds of plastic.
- Nikki Gaddo, founder of the #ThrowAwayBetter campaign, will talk through the new Goodmine app, finding good homes for unwanted items in Islington and beyond.
- Test your knowledge with our short Q&A "Where does Islington's waste really go??". Still in a quiz mode, we'll be encouraging visitors to get on their phones and take the Let's Talk Rubbish London survey.
PLUS our super popular Toy Swap will be going ahead as usual so do bring clean, unwanted toys and swap them for something else. And feel free to just come in for a cup of tear and a chat. Lots is happening in climate news and we’d love to share thoughts and solutions.
