It’s time to get crafty for nature with a host of ideas to make the Restore Nature Now March on June 22nd the biggest march for nature ever.
Our team of volunteers nailed it last week by making the wiggly earthworms out of flexible, white PVC ducting hose and old tights so we’ve popped the instructions here ....
AND the owls are coming …. We’ve printed out dozens of artist Paul Harfleet’s Snowy Owl portable ‘puppets’ for volunteers to carry at the March. We’ll need help making them up so join one of our making days and let’s create our very own Parliament of Owls! See Paul's extraordinary wildlife art here: https://birdscanflystore.com/howl-for-the-owl/
The Restore Nature Now March team have published their own suggestions here. The march will be arranged broadly into four themed groups, AIR LAND WATER AND WOODLAND. For Air, Pennant flags with swallows will be flying in from a South-easterly direction. In Manchester, for Land, they’re making a marching meadow with willow and wire 3D structures of dormice, butterflies, insects and flowers. A Walking Wood is being grown by The Woodland Trust. The Restore Nature Now March looks set to be historic in many ways. So far, hundreds of groups including WWF, National Trust, Friends of the Earth and Extinction Rebellion have teamed up to make this demand: that UK politicians show strong domestic and global leadership by 1) giving a pay rise to nature 2) making polluters pay 3) delivering more space for nature 4) putting a right to a healthy environment in law 5) ensuring fair and effective climate action.

And come join one of the Islington Climate Centre’s amazing workshops to prepare for the March. Make your own placard and poster with those irrepressible rogues Paris ‘68 Redux and join us in making the most beautiful banner ever for the Islington Climate Centre (June 16th). PLUS we have loads of flyers for you to give to friends and family to encourage them to come to the March.
On the day of the March itself, we’ll be meeting at the Climate Centre at 10.30am to collect the ‘worms’ and the Centre banner before heading down at 11.30am to meet the March.
