We're writing to update you about an exciting development in the world of Islington Fixers.
The Islington Climate Centre has been awarded a North London Waste Authority grant for the Fixers (see announcement here), which over the next year or so will allow us to:
take over the running of events so Pawel Ryczan (Waste Minimisation and Recycling Officer) can focus on his other circular economy work at Islington Council.
appoint Anna Hyde, director of the Climate Centre, as our Coordinator, supported by Bel Jacobs and Caz Royds, with Ruby Tapper and Jonathan Foster in the background.
run at least 1 electronics repair event a month within Islington borough, including 6 “Megafix” events to which we will invite other groups doing repairing and upcycling.
engage with specific communities and develop new projects through Age UK and the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants.
improve the support we give to our amazing pool of fixers
Islington Fixers won’t change that much - and Pawel will go on visiting when he can. We’ve all loved working with him and we owe him our heartfelt thanks for his amazing leadership and support over the years. For those that have visited our events before - we hope you will enjoy continuing to work with us as much as we do with you, and please get in touch with your ideas and suggestions of things we can do better. If you haven't been to a Fixers event before, please check out our upcoming events here
Thank you !
